Evidence Central Asia at the White House, seated at a roundtable discussion with members of the Kyrgyz Republic parliament and climate change experts.

On January 30, 2024, Evidence Central Asia, a research company, participated in a meeting with members of the Kyrgyz Republic parliament and climate change experts at the White House. During the roundtable, discussions centered on pressing and prioritized issues in the fields of ecology, climate, and environmental conservation.

At the meeting, our Executive Director, Kunduz Kydyrova, proposed an initiative to establish a unified comprehensive database on climate change in the country. Our participation in the meeting also provided an opportunity to highlight the uncertainty of sources and the outdated nature of the data presented in the “Green Economy” development program in Kyrgyzstan for the years 2019-2023, as well as the lack of updated data in the National Statistical Committee. Additionally, we emphasized the issues related to the inconsistency in the methodology used for filling out the climate change sections in the passports of rural municipalities.

We drew the attention of the deputies to the necessity for Parliament’s assistance in facilitating access to information and data from various ministries and agencies.

Evidence CA, as part of the expert community of the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan, expressed readiness to continue cooperation with government authorities and climate change experts to develop systemic approaches in decision-making regarding climate issues.
