Researching the Impact of COVID-19 on Youth in Kyrgyzstan
Our organization was one of the first to start studying the impact of COVID-19 on various population groups. In the summer of 2020, commissioned by UNFPA and UNICEF, our organization conducted a study to examine the impact of COVID-19 on income, employment, social protection, education, health, as well as the psychological well-being of young people.
The study focused on surveying young people aged 15-29 years old. Data collection took place from June 3rd to June 13th, 2020, covering all regions of the country. The report examines the impact of challenges and issues faced by youth due to the pandemic, considering gender and age aspects. Additionally, separate data is provided for vulnerable groups, including young people living with HIV/AIDS, those with limited health capabilities, and children of migrants. The primary research tool used was a quantitative survey of 700 youth representatives across the country. Overall, the research findings align with the situation in other countries, and a forecast was made that the global economic crisis would significantly exacerbate the situation for youth in the long term.
